Information on score transformation update in the Assessio platform
The performance framework
In the heart of the recruitment and development module in the Assessio platform is the new performance framework and how we communicate competency and job match scores. These scores need to be easy to understand, valid and actionable in order to drive improved people decisions.
Overused aspects of competencies
The performance framework comes with some distinguishing and unique features – one of them being the “overused” aspect of both specialist and leadership competencies. This feature is implemented firstly, to enhance the validity of our insights. Recent research highlights that too much of even "good behaviors" can affect work performance negatively. Secondly, we implemented this feature to improve the practicality and "actionability” of our insights compared to our previous way of communicating.
What’s changing?
The implementation of this feature presented come challenges, especially when using potential tools (MAP and Matrigma). The biggest was determining the threshold within the rating scale that would indicate a potential risk of "overuse" in a specific competency. To address this, we examined more than 8000 data points collected from individuals who took both MAP and Matrigma. Now, with more than 25000 candidates taking the assessments in the new platform we have expanded our analysis, enabling us to optimize the transformation of assessment scores. We are pleased to announce that these updates will be released into the platform on the 9th of June.
More specifically, the change is targeting the way we transform test scores (especially Matrigma scores) to competency and job match scores. This change will impact competencies where Matrigma scores are important and will have only a marginal effect on competencies relying solely on MAP scores. The change itself means that, for competencies where Matrigma is important, we will raise the threshold at which a candidate is considered "overused" and consequently receives a lower match score. As a result, extremely high Matrigma scores will now have less negative impact on competency and match scores. Also, for all competencies, in the "higher average" and "lower high" ranges on the scale, there will be a slight reduction in competency and match scores. How pronounced these differences will be are depending on what lens you are using in your recruitment.
How will this work?
After the release, this new way of transforming scores will be enabled in every new recruitment that you start but there will be no changes made to ongoing recruitment processes:
-
All new candidates in a new recruitment = new transformation.
-
Existing candidates reused in new recruitment = new transformation.
-
Existing candidates in a recruitment started before the 9th of June = old transformation.
-
New candidates in a recruitment started before the 9th of June = old transformation.
